Connecting ICT, Design, Business and Health students to create next-gen skills, Health Technologies + Venture potential.

Hacking Health Tech with the University of Newcastle

We've fired up Aha! to capture ideas for our 2018 solvathon. Got a stubborn healthtech problem that you'd like to see some innovative thinking applied to? Head to FixMy.. to submit an idea for our next event.
The need for digital-savvy graduates who can collaborate effectively across dispersed teams, to create + support ICT solutions that positively enhance our lives, has never been stronger. Our hackathon is designed to stimulate inter-disciplinary team learning of health, business, design and tech skills whilst tackling contemporary regional health challenges for prizes + early venture support.

Our 15-16Sept 2017 has now come to a close, with our event writeup available at http://www.laughingmind.com/blog/incubating-hunter-based-healthtech-talent-for-global-impact. Thank you to all teams who competed.
You can see and interact with our teams efforts beyond the event using the #HHT17UoN hashtag or check out our curated story at
https://storify.com/laughingmind/healthtech-solvathon
Our events draw together UoN Students from ICT, Design, Business and Health, with input from Clinicians, Carers + Consumers to tackle regional health problems visible in sites like MyHealthyCommunities with targeted use of technology. It's an immersive event for all involved, with a compressed timeframe challenge to deliver first generation concepts and prototypes in a deep-dive learning experience that balances teamwork, time management, business-savvy and digital collaboration skills with clinically relevant technology and services.
Most hackathons rely on Face to Face attendance - our event is designed to interact with Clinicians, Carers and Consumers using a remote engagement model to support the needs of regional, rural and remote clinicians. This allows them to engage with teams securely and take part in a Continuous Professional Development experience that closes the gap between technology Needs and viable Solutions, whilst helping students get a great exposure experience in fast moving collaborations and contemporary tools.

Woot! #HHT17UoN Quality #healthtech pitches + concepts. Winners:
